2008 Nov 12

November 12, 2008 - Waste Not.

Today, please make an effort to use less. Sometimes this is referred to as Source Point Reduction. Rather than creating more stuff to go to the garbage or to the recycling center, try a different tack of Source Point Reduction. Rather than using a steno pad or legal pad to write notes on, pull something out of the recycle box that has a little space on it and use that for your note taking. Rather than buying a new soda or iced tea in a glass or plastic bottle, refill your old one with water or homemade iced tea. Go forth and waste not!

ECO-DRIVING TIP OF THE WEEK:

Maintain a steady speed. Did you know that every 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is equivalent to paying 20 extra cents per gallon of gas. Highway driving that exceeds 60 miles per hour uses more fuel. Observing the speed limit and not exceeding 60 mph (where legally allowed) can improve mileage by 7-23%.

Office Pack – Not sure what to recycle in your office pack? Here are a few tips….YES to glossy inserts sent with billing statements, NO to sticky notes (unless you tear off the sticky part and it’s not bright paper), YES to manila file folders, NO to golden envelopes (many of these have metal clasps), YES to window envelopes, NO to overnight letter envelopes. Did You Know…. if you tear dark colored paper (like colorful file folders) and they are white inside YES they are recyclable.
